Big Boi Makes Move From Jive To Def Jam

OutKast's Big Boi is taking his musical destiny into his own hands and making the move from Jive Records to Def Jam Recordings.
In an interview with Toronto's Eye Weekly, Big Boi said the only thing standing in his way is the legal paperwork.

"The lawyers just have to finish their lawyering," he said.

Once the legalities are finalized, Big Boi will be releasing his much-delayed album Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty.

Things have come full circle for OutKast and Def Jam's L.A. Reid, as it was Reid who originally signed the duo to LaFace back in 1992.

"He's been with us since the beginning," he said.

Big Boi's Sir Luscious Left Foot was scheduled to hit stores last year, but was delayed several times.

"Jive Records, man," Big Boi told Rolling Stone about the album earlier this year. "You know what goes with Jive? Shuckin' and jivin'. And the fans have been thinking it's me and Dre. You can't work on music for two-plus years and just give it to a label and they just f*ck it up."

Big Boi is currently making his rounds on the Rock the Bells tour and will soon be announcing a release date for the project.
