Drug Pin "Freeway Ricky Ross" Is Released From Prison
we have has learned that "Freeway Ricky Ross" has been released from prison. If you don't know who he is, Ross was incarcerated at the Texarkana Federal Prison in Texas. He served a maximum of 14 years to a 20-year sentence for attempting to purchase 100 kilograms of cocaine from FBI agents in 1996.
But the real Ross was famous for his run in with the rapper Rick Ross also known as William Roberts, who was a Correctional Officer at the Federal Prison.
"Freeway Ricky Ross" was very upset that Rick Ross had stolen his name. Freeway had told AllHipHop in a past interview. "After seeing all the stuff that has been going on with Correctional Officer (William Roberts) that stole my name, [it] makes me think back to a year and a half ago when we spoke. I tried to talk to him like a big brother and let him know to be you, and that he couldn't be me." Ross the inmate had many influence on the rapper Rick Ross.
During his years as a drug king, Ross grossed over $23 million dollars per week selling crack cocaine on the street corners of Los Angeles in the 80's. His 20-year sentence was exposed by articles in the San Jose Mercury, claiming that the C.I.A. would dole out cocaine to black communities.
For Ross' future, there's a new memoir about his life and a plan to start a record label with music industry veteran, Wendy Day.
