Akon's ex and mother of his child, Sara Coleman, has reportedly been trying to track the singer down to serve him with papers requesting child support.
According to TMZ, Akon has been so elusive that Coleman's lawyer even resorted to showing up at Michael Jackson's memorial to serve him.
Sources are saying the paternity of the child was called into question, but Akon took a paternity test that confirmed his status as the biological father.
The baby is now 6 months old.
Although Coleman claims Akon has been ducking out on his responsibilities, the singer maintains he's been doing anything but.
"Akon has taken responsibility and has been extremely cooperative and proactive in handling this private matter," Akon's attorney said in a statement. "Paternity was only established just over 30 days ago. Since the case was filed outside of Georgia jurisdiction, where he is a legal resident, Akon is currently in the process of engaging counsel in California and will continue to handle this matter in a timely manner."
